Fort Leavenworth Bldg. 48 HVAC Upgrade

This project was conducted in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). The work involved removing four Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units and installing seven split system units (cooling only). Additionally, two energy recovery ventilators and two condensers were removed and replaced with two packaged dedicated outdoor air units. A variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system, including indoor and outdoor units as specified in the provided drawings, was installed along with ceiling cassettes for supplemental cooling. New roof curbs were constructed for the Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS). The existing Liebert unit in the secure building was removed and disposed of as specified, and all R-22 refrigerant was reclaimed and delivered to the government. The split system units, with a net cooling capacity of (5 tons/6 tons), using R-410A refrigerant, 208-230V/60HZ/1PH, were installed according to the manufacturer's specifications. The condensers have low ambient capabilities, and new L ACR copper piping was installed for refrigerant. All installations of sleeves through walls, roofs, and ceilings for the refrigerant piping met SCIF requirements. The project also addressed asbestos concerns, conducted roof investigations, and replaced roof curbs, resulting in a fully functional system.
